Abstract

The purpose of writing this final project is to determine the right and appropriate location for public libraries, for how to design a representative library with applicable standards so that visitors are more comfortable in the library room and also load the room to be less monotonous and boring, and apply the principles of green architecture to the library planning design. Based on existing sources of education reference data in 2021, the number of schools in North Buton Regency, both public and private, is 143 schools (SD/MI, SMP/MTS, SMA/MA, and SMK). Of the many schools and educational facilities, most of the schools do not have adequate libraries and there are no regional library facilities, let alone public libraries, resulting in a decrease in the level of curiosity in reading and a decrease in the quality of human resources, especially in the field of science, so one of the solutions to this situation and the above problems is to build a public library building that is needed by all students and the general public. The design of the Public Library in North Buton Regency, precisely in Kulisusu District, is quite good because green architecture itself is a principle that emphasizes minimizing energy and resources so that buildings can pay more attention to the use of natural resources (sun, wind, and water) which means minimizing energy use while limiting and changing the function of the building, comfort, and productivity of its residents.
