Abstract

Tongkoseng village is located in a highland area, which causes many places to be crossed by rivers originating from the top of the mountain towards the ocean. So, there are river sand reserves in several river basin areas. This research aims to determine the feasibility of using Tongkoseng River sand as a fine aggregate in making concrete. The method used is an experimental study at the Concrete Laboratory of Sembilanbelas November University, Kolaka. Standard fine aggregate testing is adjusted to applicable SNI and ASTM standards. Results obtained from testing the suitability of Tongkoseng river sand from 5 (five) sand sampling locations. locations 1 and 2 for testing the density, water absorption content, mud content, solid density, and loose bulk did not meet the requirements. For location 3, the bulk density test, the solid bulk weight, and the loose bulk test did not meet the criteria. Meanwhile, location 4 and location 5 were obtained from 5 (five) test categories, all meeting the requirements. From the test results, it can be concluded that the Tongkosesn river sand for samples at location 4 and location 5 can be used as a building material for concrete.
